I’m Japanese born and bred. I'm from Hokkaido in the north.
After I graduated from university I worked as a registered dietitian in Osaka and then I moved to Kagawa, the udon capital of the world, so I know city life and countryside life!! Both are great!
Now I’m living in Canada. I have been studying French recently.
I lived in New Zealand for two and a half years in total. During that time I have taught Japanese at the Japanese Embassy in New Zealand.
I think that an effective way to learn Japanese is to speak, listen and get used to it with a native speaker! Feel free to chat with me!
What I am good at and what I pay attention to when teaching Japanese.
When I was a registered dietitian, I would listen to people all the time. I had to work with them to find the things that they could do to become more healthy. So I’m quite good at listening carefully and following your pace.
I have joined many Japanese classes and language exchange events（Mundo Lingo）. So I am used to listening to non-native Japanese. I’m also good at guessing what you want to say.
I’m currently living with a New Zealander and an Australian. Living with people from different cultures can be interesting! If you are living with any Japanese people I would love to hear about it!
Perhaps you are thinking about working or studying in Japan. I studied abroad in New Zealand, so I know the kind of situations you might face.
Lessons
At the beginning of the lesson, tell me (1) your name and (2) what you want to do in the lesson.
We can talk about whatever you like. You can ask me about anything you want to know about Japan or Japanese languages.
If you speak in unnatural sentences or pronunciations, I will tell you how to say it more naturally. If you don't like it, please let me know.
We can choose a topic to talk about. (I will send you the 'topic options' via chat if you tell me.)
You can use any textbooks you’d like to use. (Just let me know before the lesson because I doon't have any.)
I can listen to your worries and troubles.
You can have tea or lunch or snack while the lesson. (Do not take lessons while driving.)
You can read Japanese news together.
You can practise describing pictures and drawings.
I’m closed during weekends and public holidays in Canada.
We can talk about your favourite things, current events, and more! We can even sing together if you like! Learning Japanese doesn’t have to be boring! ！ I do not provide detailed explanations of grammar or study for exams such as the JLPT.

管理栄養士の仕事では、栄養について患者（かんじゃ）さんと話すこともしていました。そのときに、人の話をよく聞いて、その人ができそうなことをお伝えするようにしていたので、じっくり話を聞くことや、その人に合（あ）わせて話すことが得意です。 さらに、日本語教室や、言語交換（こうかん）イベント（Mundo Lingo）によく参加（さんか）していたので、他（ほか）の国（くに）の人が話す日本語にも慣れています。また、みなさんが言（い）いたいことを想像（そうぞう）するのが得意です。 私は今、他の国の出身（しゅっしん）の人と一緒（いっしょ）に住んでいます。文化（ぶんか）が異（こと）なることもありますが、おもしろいです！ もし日本人と住んでる人や、友達や家族（かぞく）が日本人である、という人がいたら困（こま）っていること、楽しいところなどを共有（きょうゆう）できるかと思います。 日本に行って働（はたら）きたい人や、勉強（べんきょう）したい人へ。 私はニュージーランドに留学（りゅうがく）した経験（けいけん）があるので、どんな準備（じゅんび）をしたか、なども共有できます。

不自然（ふしぜん）な文章（ぶんしょう）や発音などあれば、より自然な言い方をお伝（つた）えします。

使（つか）いたい教科書（きょうかしょ）などあれば一緒に勉強することができます！ → レッスンの前（まえ）に、使いたい教科書のページの写真（しゃしん）やPDFなどを送（おく）ってください。私は教科書を持（も）っていません。
相談（そうだん）や悩（なや）みがあれば聞きます。
お茶（ちゃ）しながら、ごはんを食（た）べながら、レッスンするのもOKです。運転中（うんてんちゅう）のレッスンはやめてください。
日本のニュースを一緒に読めます。
写真（しゃしん）や絵（え）について説明（せつめい）をする練習（れんしゅう）ができます。
週末（土曜、日曜）と、カナダの祝日はお休みです。

【My lessons】
1. Role playing
"When I go to a store, I can't ask the clerk a question." "What do I do if I don't know the price?"and so on, are some of the questions students ask me.
Let's practice together by role-playing, with me as the clerk and you as the customer.

Hey there, it's nice to meet you! My name is Kaoru and I'm just getting started as a Japanese language teacher. I'm looking forward to getting to know you through our chats.
I'm a Japanese woman living in Yokohama. I used to work as a nurse in various settings, but now I'm a stay-at-home mom with two young children. I love interacting with people and hearing their stories, and I find great fulfillment in helping others. I especially enjoyed chatting with patients and listening to the stories of the elderly. Even though my schedule is busy with my kids, I am determined to provide the best lessons for my students and am available for classes in the evenings and on the weekends. I've also had the opportunity to study abroad in Australia and I am proficient in English, so I can use it to assist in your understanding of the language. I've achieved an IELTS 7.0 score, registered as a qualified nurse in Australia and recently in my free time, I study for the Japanese Language Education Ability Test. I've put in a lot of effort to improve my English, so I'm excited to share my experience and help others learn a new language.

Disclaimer: Currently, I may not have all the qualifications of a Japanese teacher, but I'm more than happy to help in any way I can. 2. Reading Practice
Reading practice is a great way to improve your language skills. Let's work together to read various materials such as websites, books, manga, and newspapers. If you have any specific materials you'd like to use, feel free to send them my way. I'll help you understand the content and context, as well as work on your pronunciation. I'll also explain any new words or expressions we come across.
3. Writing Practice
Let's work together to write different types of texts such as emails, letters, diaries and more. I will be more than happy to guide you through it, providing feedback on grammar, vocabulary and style, helping you to express yourself better in writing.
4. Practice Listening and Speaking in Specific Situations
If you have had experiences of not understanding what the other person was saying or not knowing how to respond in that situation, let's try exercises to work on those scenarios. We can practice in situations such as in a restaurant, at the city hall, bank, post office, hospital,or on public transportation. It can be helpful to act out these situations and work on understanding how to respond in those circumstances.

※申し訳（もうしわけ）ありませんが、日本語(にほんご)教師(きょうし)の資格(しかく)は持（も）っていませんので、試験対策(しけんたいさく)やビジネス会話(かいわ)など、上級者向け(じょうきゅうしゃむけ）の専門的（せんもんてき）な知識(ちしき)が必要(ひつよう)なレッスンはお引き受け（おひきうけ）できません。
１、フリースタイル
趣味（しゅみ）、今日（きょう）あったこと、好（す）きな食べ物（たべもの）など、どんなことでもいいので、おもしろそうな話題（わだい）を選（えら）んで気軽（きがる）におしゃべりをしましょう。初（はじ）めてのレッスンではお互（たが）いのことを知（し）るために、フリースタイルでお話（はなし）するのがいいかもしれません。もし興味（きょうみ）のある話題（わだい）があればレッスンのはじめに教（おし）えてください。難（むずか）しいことは考（かんが）えずにおしゃべりを楽（たの）しみましょう！
２、読（よ）む練習（れんしゅう）
読む練習は読解能力（どっかいのうりょく）を向上（こうじょう）させます。ウェブサイト、本（ほん）、漫画（まんが）、新聞（しんぶん）など様々（さまざま）な教材（きょうざい）を使（つか）って読む練習をしましょう。使用（しよう）したい教材がある場合（ばあい）は、画像（がぞう）を送（おく）るなどして私（わたし）に教（おし）えてください。内容（ないよう）や文脈（ぶんみゃく）を理解（りかい）できているのか、発音（はつおん）が正（ただ）しくできているのか、一緒（いっしょ）に確認（かくにん）していきます。新（あたら）しい単語（たんご）や表現（ひょうげん）についても学（まな）びましょう。
３、書（か）く練習（れんしゅう）
メール、手紙（てがみ）、日記（にっき）などいろいろな種類（しゅるい）の文章（ぶんしょう）を一緒（いっしょ）に書（か）いて練習（れんしゅう）しましょう。文法（ぶんぽう）、単語（たんご）、表現（ひょうげん）などについて学（まな）び、文章力（ぶんしょうりょく）に磨（みが）きをかけましょう！
４、特定（とくてい）の場面（ばめん）における、聞（き）く・話（はな）す練習（れんしゅう）
日常生活（にちじょうせいかつ）で相手（あいて）が何（なに）を言（い）っているのかわからなかった、何（なん）て言（い）ったらよいのかわからなかったという経験（けいけん）があれば、その会話（かいわ）を私（わたし）と再現（さいげん）してみましょう。レストラン、市役所（しやくしょ）、銀行（ぎんこう）、郵便局（ゆうびんきょく）、病院（びょういん）、公共交通機関（こうきょうこうつうきかん）の乗降時（じょうこうじ）などが例（れい）です。その状況（じょうきょう）に適（てき）した会話（かいわ）ができるように練習（れんしゅう）しましょう。
