Self-introduction

「はいろ」です。新（あたら）しい講師（こうし）です。よろしくお願（ねが）いします。自己紹介は下にあります。
Hi, I'm HI-RO (Jairo), a new instructor here. Great to meet you here at JapaTalk! For more information about my background, read my self-introduction down below.

#すみません。3月1日より、1レッスンのポイント数を700ポイントに変更させていただきます。私の住んでいる都道府県の最低賃金の基準に近づけるためです。今後も魅力的なレッスンをご提供できますよう、努力を続けますので、今後ともよろしくお願いいたします。

#I'm afraid but let me raise the necessary points for a lesson to 700 points as of March 1st. This is to get it closer to the standard of the minimum wage in the prefecture in which I live. I'll keep my efforts to provide attractive lessons on. I apologize for this in convenience.

- 予約（よやく）ができる時間（じかん）の前後1時間（ぜんごいちじかん）も、予定（よてい）が空（あ）いている時（とき）があります。Skype Chatで気軽（きがる）に相談（そうだん）してください。

- One hour before and after the available slots could be often available, too. Feel free to ask me via Skype Chat.

- レッスンは、いろいろなことができます。基本的には、あなたにたくさん話（はな）してもらいたいです。でも、わからないことは説明（せつめい）します。よろしければ英語（えいご）でも説明（せつめい）できます。
- I can offer various kinds of lessons. In general, I would like you to talk a lot. But I will explain, of course, what you don't know or understand. I can also explain in English if you prefer.​

• 使（つか）いたいテキストがあれば教（おし）えてください。できるだけ手（て）に入（い）れます。
• Feel free to tell me if you have a textbook you would like to use. I will get it as much as possible.

 

• 会話（かいわ）の相手（あいて）ができます。
• I can talk with you.
• あなたの好きな話題（わだい）について話（はな）しましょう。いろいろ教（おし）えてください。
• Let's talk about your favorite topics. Share things with me.
• あなたの希望（きぼう）に応（おう）じて間違（まちが）いも直（なお）します。（あまり直（なお）さないでくださいという希望（きぼう）も尊重（そんちょう）します）
• I can provide corrections according to how much you prefer it. (I will also respect your preference not to be corrected much.)
• ビジネス日本語、アカデミック日本語も教えられます。
• I can teach business Japanese and academic Japanese, too.
• 関西弁（かんさいべん）のネイティブスピーカーです。希望（きぼう）に応（おう）じて、関西弁（かんさいべん）の会話（かいわ）もできます。希望（きぼう）を教（おし）えてください。
• As a native speaker of it, I can talk with you in the Kansai dialect, too, if you like. Just tell me so.
• 「Why in Japanese and Japan?」－いろいろな質問を英語で聞いて答えます。
• "Why in Japanese and Japan?" - I will share my personal views to your questions about Japan and Japanese (language, people, culture, etc.) in English.

 

• 文法（ぶんぽう）の説明（せつめい）ができます。
• I can explain grammar.
• いろいろな例文（れいぶん）で文法（ぶんぽう）を楽（たの）しく学（まな）びましょう。（関西弁（かんさいべん）の文法（ぶんぽう）の説明（せつめい）もできます）
• Let's learn grammar with fun through various examples. (I can explain grammar of the Kansai dialect, too.)

 

• 作文（さくぶん）の添削（てんさく）ができます。
• I can correct your written sentences and explain what and how.
• あらかじめ、作文（さくぶん）をチャットで送（おく）ってください。
• You may want to send your writing via the Chat function beforehand.

 

• 読解（どっかい）の練習（れんしゅう）ができます。
• I can practice reading materials with you.
• 「やさしい日本語」のニュースから始（はじ）めてもいいですね。
• It may be a good idea to begin with the news articles in "easy Japanese."
• あらかじめ、読（よ）みたい記事（きじ）をチャットで教（おし）えてください。
• You may want to send the article you would like to read with me via the Chat function beforehand.

 

• 発音（はつおん）やアクセントの練習（れんしゅう）ができます。
• I can practice pronunciation and accent with you.
• 私（わたし）は関西（かんさい）の出身（しゅっしん）ですが、大学（だいがく）で標準語（ひょうじゅんご）/共通語（きょうつうご）の音声（おんせい）について専門的（せんもんてき）に学（まな）びました。何（なに）かお手伝（てつだ）いできるかもしれません。もちろん、関西弁（かんさいべｎ）の練習（れんしゅう）もできます。
• Though I am origianlly from Kansai, I learned phonology and phonetics of so-called "standard Japanese" at college. I may have something to help you with in these areas as well. Of course, I can help you practice some Kansai pronunciation and accent.
• 一緒（いっしょ）に日本語（にほんご）の早口言葉（はやくちことば）を練習（れんしゅう）しましょうか。
• Shall we practice Japanese tongue twisters together?

【自己紹介（じこしょうかい）・Self-Introduction】

• 日本の大学（広島大学）と大学院（大阪大学）で日本語教育と現代日本語学を専攻しました。
• I majored in Japanese language education and modern Japanerse linguistics at a university (Hiroshima University) and a graduate school (Osaka University) in Japan.
• 長年、英語の教師をしています。中国や韓国、東南アジアやスペイン語・ポルトガル語圏など、いろいろな国からの人々にも教えてきました。
• I have been teaching English as my profession for many years. I have taught it to people from various countries like China, Korea, and Southeastern and Spanish/Portugues-speaking countries.
• 大学レベルで言語学や言語学習法、異文化コミュニケーションなども教えてきました。
• I have also been teaching linguistics, language learning methods, intercultural communication, etc. at college level.
• 留学と仕事でフィリピンにほぼ20年、住んでいました。イロカノ語などが少し話せます。
• I lived in the Philippines for almost 20 years to study and work there. I can speak a little Ilocano and others.
• いろいろな外国語を勉強するのも好きです。特にタガログ語、中国語、フランス語、ブラジル・ポルトガル語を勉強していました。古典ギリシア語とラテン語も少し読めます。今はウクライナ語を学んでいます。学習者のみなさんの気持ちがよくわかります。
• I like learning a lot of languages. I was especially learning Tagalog, Chinese, French and Brazilian Portuguese. I can read classical Greek and Latin a bit. Currently, I am learning Ukrainian. I understand well how you feel as you learn Japanese.
• OxfordのVery Short Introductionsなど、本を読むのが好きです。
• I love reading books like Oxford Very Short Introductions.
• 音楽が好きです。ベースを弾きます。
• I love music. I play the basses.
• 家族は妻と高校生の娘の3人です。
• I have a wife and a high-schooler daughter.

・For someone like me who barely speaks Japanese but really wants to learn the language, Hi-Ro sensei is the teacher to go to, He speaks fluent English and managed to introduce and explain basic vocabulary words and terms to me.
