About Zoom Lessons

Dear Members,

Thank you very much for using JapaTalk.

We have switched the video call app for JapaTalk from Teams to Zoom.

If you are already connected with your teacher on Teams, you may continue taking lessons there. However, lessons will primarily be conducted via Zoom.

How to Take Zoom Lessons
1. Download and install Zoom.

While you can use Zoom from a web browser on a PC, we highly recommend installing the app for the best video and audio quality.

Download link: https://zoom.us/download

For Windows users: Please select the 64-bit version.

Mobile app: Zoom Workplace

Sign up for a free account and log in. (Note: You can still join lessons even if you choose not to sign up for a Zoom account.)

2. Join your lesson.

After booking, you will be provided with your teacher's Zoom link. When it is time for your lesson, simply open that link to enter the Zoom meeting room.

Display Name: Please set your Zoom display name to match your registered JapaTalk name as closely as possible.

Camera: If there is a diagonal line across the camera icon, click it to turn your camera ON.

If your teacher has not arrived yet, please wait in the room for a moment.

3. Use the chat function.

You can access the chat by clicking the Chat icon located at the bottom center of the screen.

Note: The chat history is not automatically saved. Please copy and paste any important notes you wish to keep before the lesson ends.

4. Finish the lesson.

When the lesson is over, click Leave at the bottom right of the screen to exit.

* Taking 50-minute lessons (Two consecutive slots).
To help you maintain focus, a 50-minute lesson will include a short 5-minute break.
Because free Zoom calls automatically disconnect after 40 minutes, let's use this break time to grab a drink or stretch!
Afterward, simply click the exact same link to re-enter the room and resume your lesson.

Important Notes
Messaging Teachers: You can connect with your teacher via Zoom chat or channels to send direct messages (a free Zoom account is required for this). If you receive a contact request from your teacher, please accept it.

Reusing Links: Your teacher's Zoom meeting room link will be used repeatedly (the link is generally fixed).
The meeting time displayed on the Zoom screen may differ from your actual booked time. Please rest assured that your lesson will still begin exactly at your scheduled time.

We understand that this recent transition from Teams to Zoom might feel a bit confusing at first, and we deeply appreciate your cooperation in helping us run Zoom lessons smoothly.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Best regards,
JapaTalk Office
