“The elephant in the room.”
Just like English, Japanese has many interesting expressions that make you think, “I want to use that!”
Some expressions may sound familiar, but you might wonder,
“When can I use this?”
Here are three examples:
Nami da o nomu (涙をのむ) — to hide your disappointment and accept something you don’t want.
Mushi no shirase (虫の知らせ) — a feeling that something bad might happen.
The elephant in the room — an important problem that nobody wants to talk about.
